Our Story
Rent Wash Gear started with a simple observation: buying commercial cleaning equipment rarely makes sense for a weekend project. A contractor friend of ours spent nearly $2,000 on a professional pressure washer for a single driveway-and-deck job, then parked it in a hot garage for three years. By the time he needed it again, the seals had dried out, the carburetor was gummed up, and the repair bill nearly matched the price of renting the same machine ten times over.
We founded Rent Wash Gear in Austin, Texas to give homeowners, small contractors, and property managers a better option: commercial-grade wash equipment — pressure washers, carpet extractors, steam cleaners, floor scrubbers, and soft wash systems — rented by the day or week, maintained by professional technicians, and handed over with honest guidance on how to use it safely and well.
What began as a single shelf of pressure washers at our Austin South location has grown into a fleet of five equipment categories and three pickup points across the metro area: Austin North, Austin South, and Round Rock. But the principle hasn't changed. We rent gear we would happily use ourselves, we tell you exactly what it will and won't do, and we make the whole process — reserve, pick up, return — as straightforward as possible.
We're an independent, locally run business. When you call (512) 555-0199, you talk to someone who has actually run the equipment, not a call center. When you pick up a machine, the person handing it to you is the same person who serviced it. That closeness between our fleet and our renters is something we intend to keep as we grow.
Our Gear Maintenance Program
The difference between a frustrating rental and a great one almost always comes down to maintenance. That's why every machine in our fleet runs through a documented service program — not just a wipe-down between renters.
After every return, each unit is inspected, cleaned, and function-tested: hoses are checked for abrasion and leaks, nozzles and fittings are tested for proper flow, tanks and recovery systems are flushed, engines receive scheduled oil and filter service, and electric components are checked for wear. Anything that doesn't meet our standard is repaired or pulled from the fleet.
Before every rental, the machine gets a pre-rental checklist review: fuel or charge levels, safety devices (relief valves, GFCI plugs, thermal shutoffs, guards), and all accessories that should ship with the unit — wands, nozzles, hoses, solution tanks, and manuals. We log every check with the unit's serial number so there's a paper trail for each machine's service history.
We also follow manufacturer service intervals to the letter, retire machines that have reached the end of their reliable service life, and keep a stock of common wear parts on hand so a damaged hose or clogged nozzle doesn't turn into a multi-day wait. The result: when you reserve a machine, it works — the first time, every time.
Safety Standards
Wash equipment is powerful, and we take that seriously. High-pressure water can injure skin, hot steam can burn, and electrical equipment near water demands proper precautions. Our safety standards are built around two goals: rent out equipment that's safe to operate, and make sure every renter understands how to operate it safely.
Every rental includes a safety walkthrough. At pickup, we demonstrate the machine's controls, point out safety devices, explain personal protective equipment (PPE) — eye protection and gloves at a minimum for pressure washers — and go over the situations that cause most injuries: never pointing the wand at people or pets, never climbing a ladder while holding a running pressure washer wand, and always reading the manual before first use.
We verify safety systems before each rental. Trigger locks, pressure relief valves, thermal protection, GFCI protection on electric units, and guarding on rotating components are all checked. If a safety device is damaged or missing, the machine does not go out — no exceptions.
We don't oversell. If a homeowner asks for a 4,200 PSI machine to wash their car, we'll talk them down to a safer option and explain why. The right machine for the job is the one that gets it done without risking damage or injury, and our job is to help you pick it.
Our Team & Our Commitment
Rent Wash Gear is run by a small team of technicians and customer specialists who work with this equipment every day. Most of us came from cleaning, contracting, or equipment service backgrounds, which means the advice you get at the counter comes from real job-site experience — not a script.
Our commitment to you is simple:
- Honest equipment. We describe our gear accurately, including its limits. If a job really needs a hot-water unit, we'll say so — and if it doesn't, we'll tell you that too.
- Transparent pricing. The rates on our pricing page are the rates you pay. Deposits are refundable, the optional damage waiver is a flat 10% of the rental, and delivery is a flat $45. No hidden fees, no surprise charges.
- Support while you rent. Questions during your project? Call us at (512) 555-0199 during business hours, Mon–Sat 7:00 AM–6:00 PM CT. If something isn't working right, we'll troubleshoot with you or swap the unit.
- Respect for your time. Reservations are confirmed, gear is prepped before you arrive, and returns take minutes — a quick condition check and your deposit is released.
Whether you're a first-time homeowner washing a driveway or a contractor running a weekly floor-scrubbing route, we want Rent Wash Gear to be the rental shop you come back to. That starts with maintained gear and honest service, and we'll keep working at both.
